Brent Cross
The Brent Cross project involves a £1.4bn modernisation and redevelopment of the existing Brent Cross Shopping Centre and surrounding infrastructure.
The existing North London shopping centre opened in 1976 and was London's first indoor shopping mall. The existing centre will be completely refurbished and is set to double in size. New retail space will provide for up to 200 extra retail brands, including 60 new restaurants, a cinema complex and hotel accommodation.
The development partners, Hammerson UK and Standard Life, aim to provide the most advanced shopping centre in the country, with contemporary design and set to complement the character and charm of the exiting centre whilst also anticipating trends in digital shopping over the next six years.
A new living bridge and a green landscaped boulevard will span the North Circular creating a walkway for people from Brent Cross to the wide regeneration schemes taking place to the south of the shopping centre. The wider regeneration schemes include 6,700 new homes along with office space, parks and community facilities.
