Sighthill
Glasgow City Council's ambitious vision for the Sighthill Transformational Regeneration Area includes the remediation and regeneration of 50 hectares of contaminated land into attractive serviced development platforms for 650 homes comprising sustainable urban drainage, infrastructure, landscaped grounds and public realm.
The £250m project was delivered by the Council in partnership with Transforming Communities: Glasgow, The Scottish Government and Glasgow Housing Association and is the largest regeneration project of its type in the UK outside of London.
The vision was to create a distinct identity for the area by increasing accessibility, clearing former residential tower blocks and improving infrastructure, amenities and social space for residents including a new community campus school, a new park and platforms for new housing.
Connection was at the forefront for Sighthill which has been achieved by enhancing access points, new connections with pedestrian space, enhanced green space, a sustainable drainage strategy and the creation of landmarks across the site.
G&T's NEC3 project managers developed a strategic programme and procurement sequence to align with the council's scheduled demolition and land release. This resulted in works being separated into three distinct sequential contracts.
