London-based WilkinsonEyre has been appointed as architect for the next phase of redevelopment at Lord's Cricket Ground - the Tavern and Allen stands.

G&T is providing Project Management and Employer's Agent services for the project, which is the latest in the programme of facilities upgrades as Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) continues to improve the match day experience for both Members and visitors.

“The Tavern and Allen stands are much cherished by Members."

Robert Ebdon

MCC Estates Director

The Tavern Stand will be stripped back to its underlying steel framework enabling the stand to be extended and completely rebuilt, while the smaller Allen Stand - parts of which date from the 1930s - will be demolished and a new building constructed in its place.

The Tavern and Allen stands are located close to the Grace Gate and the design proposals will seek to enhance the sense of arrival at Lord's while meeting a clear requirement to modernise and improve the facilities in this area of the Ground.

Robert Ebdon, MCC Estates Director, said: “The Tavern and Allen stands are much cherished by Members. Redevelopment will greatly improve the accessibility of the stands, increase our seating capacity by approximately 1,000, provide more flexible hospitality with increased catering facilities and will be vastly more sustainable.”

G&T’s relationship with Lord’s Cricket Ground and MCC spans more than 25 years. Over that time we have worked on many exciting projects – from the Grand Stand and the Indoor Cricket Centre to the multi award-winning J.P. Morgan Media Centre, the Warner Stand in 2017 and the recently completed Compton and Edrich stands, that recently won a coveted Civic Trust Award.
