Distell Whisky Blending Facility

CVH Spirits Blending Facility

A new whisky blending facility is being constructed next door to an existing bottling plant in East Kilbride to provide improved production efficiencies for Distell International.

The project is being delivered in two phases. Phase 1 completed in December 2020 and delivers extensive infrastructure works (site clearance, excavation, filling, below ground services and utilities connections) along with a Blend Centre, Process Building, Tank Farm and two 2,000m² warehouses comprising two 1,000m² racked cells.

Plans for Phase 2 include extending the Process Building and Tank Farm along with providing a further two warehouse buildings.

A key focus of the project was to extract maximum value from a challenging site. Located within a well-developed industrial area, the site is restricted by other developments and infrastructure. Together with the architect, G&T focused on finding the right balance of cost and value and with a particular emphasis on maximising the warehouse and storage capacity. This resulted in an additional 2,000m² of warehouse space - a 33% uplift on the client's original brief.
