The project involves the renovation and preservation of the existing front façade, which has been meticulously dismantled, cleaned and stored before being reinstated in a slightly extended form. The building will comprise a basement, ground floor and seven storeys, incorporating both office space and retail units.
The 3,271m² development will feature a carefully curated palette of high-quality materials, including Portland stone, bronze, stained oak, glazed bricks, Welsh slate and granite, ensuring seamless integration with the surrounding context.
Sustainability is a key priority in the design, with measures such as the reuse of existing foundations and basement levels to reduce embodied carbon. Additionally, Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) floor slabs will be utilised in the new construction. Salvaged materials, including computer flooring, carpet tiles and steel, will be repurposed through reseller partners or refabricated for temporary works.
