Buckland Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre
The project is part of the national Community Diagnostic Centre programme which aims to deliver diagnostic activity away from acute facilities, where possible, to reduce pressure on hospitals and provide quicker access to tests and greater convenience to patients.
Phase 1 involved the construction of a new external pad together with power and data infrastructure for a mobile MRI unit. This enabled the hospital to quickly increase diagnostic capacity.
The following phase converted the existing unused pharmacy into a state-of-the-art CT diagnostics suite. This work was completed whilst adjacent areas remained operational and included connections into existing engineering services.
Unused space in the Urgent Treatment Centre was reconfigured to provide a waiting area and canulation bays for patients using the mobile MRI unit.
