Emergency Department Expansion

This phased refurbishment and extension of the emergency departments at the William Harvey Hospital and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital involves the full redevelopment of the departments, which have remained live throughout the works.

The redevelopment provides new entrances and ambulance bays, urgent treatment centre, rapid assessment, resus, majors, paediatrics, same day emergency care, dedicated mental health facilities, infectious patient isolation rooms together with support staff facilities.  Works also included new substations, medical air and heating infrastructure upgrades.

The project was delivered to an accelerated programme through a two-stage traditional procurement route, with significant overlapping of activities.
