NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Programme of Works
G&T’s work to date for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde covers a range of both new build and refurbishment works in live hospital and primary care sites, delivered under Frameworks Scotland 1, 2 and 3.
The new 5,800m² Vale of Leven Hospital project brought together four GP practices alongside dental and mental health facilities, community heath units and shared training and teaching facilities. The site was located on a SEPA flood plain and off-site road junction improvement works were required to deal with the additional traffic that the new facility would generate.
The Mental Health Partnerships – Capital Programme Restructuring South Clyde project included an eight-bed extension to both North and East wards at the Acute Admissions Unit (AAU), Dykebar Hospital to create two 21-bed AAU wards as well as the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the Bute Ward to provide eight additional rehab beds. As part of these projects, there was a requirement to isolate site utilities to Arran and Bute Wards and the AAU from the rest of the Dykebar site. All works were carried out on a phased basis to minimise disruption to existing services.
A further 48-bed Adult Addictions Unit and new six -bed Perinatal Unit at Leverndale Hospital were also delivered by our cost advisors, along with refurbishment of Short Stay Psychiatric Unit at Inverclyde Royal Hospital which provided 10 IPCU beds, 20 Acute Admissions beds, Milan Tribunal Accommodation and an ECT suite.
The expansion of the Accident and Emergency Department on the ground floor of the Jubilee building at Glasgow Royal Infirmary was another key project delivered under Frameworks Scotland using the NEC form of contract.
