SSE Hydro

SEC Hydro

The SEC Hydro is the only UK venue of its scale built specifically for concerts and which will become one of the busiest entertainment venues in the world.

Built on the site of the former Queens Dock and located adjacent to the existing Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) and Clyde Auditorium ('The Armadillo'), the building was designed from the inside out to provide optimum customer sight lines resulting in a classic auditorium form with curved terracing and central bowl. The translucent materials used in the façade will cause the building to appear to glow at night with internal and external lighting and digital projection.

The Hydro continues the development undertaken as part of SECC's QD2 masterplan which will enhance and transform the 64 acre site into a complete exhibition, conference and entertainment complex making the SECC a world-class service.

G&T also provided Cost Management and Employer's Agent services for the adjacent multi-storey car park to serve the Hydro and the advanced infrastructure, road and utilities works completed ahead of the arena contract works.
