Sotheby's, the famous New York City auction house, celebrated its 275th anniversary by opening its doors to a newly designed exhibition gallery.
The goal was to transform the existing 67,000 sq ft gallery space into a 90,000 sq ft museum-quality space, including the formation of new gallery spaces and 40,000 sq ft of new office space and property storage.
The project involved extensive structural alterations to form double-height gallery spaces, a state of the art digital signage package and replacement of all passenger and freight elevator cars. All work was carried out in an occupied building, phased around Sotheby's key exhibitions and shows.
