Brighton College Sports Science N15 Gtwebland

Brighton College School of Science & Sport

The vision for this £37m building was to integrate two usually separate disciplines - sport and science - in a modern light environment that celebrates its location overlooking the college playing fields.

Designed by Dutch architects, OMA, the building includes a basement car park with two lifts designed for mini buses, a 25m swimming pool in the basement, an 80m running track on the roof, a sports hall, gym, dance studio, café and 18 state-of-the-art science laboratories. A 9m minke whale skeleton is suspended from the ceiling in the main circulation area.

The building also has excellent green credentials, being naturally ventilated and using heating from a ground source heat pump.
