Delamere Forest

Delamere Forest

Delamere Forest is Cheshire's largest area of woodland and its redevelopment project is Forestry England's largest capital project investment. The development provides a new visitor centre, a bike centre and refurbished office facilities together with a new access road, highway improvements and car park with over 500 spaces.

Sustainability is at the forefront of the building design with features including solar panels, a ground source heat pump, sustainable drainage and rainwater harvesting. The visitor centre building was constructed in CLT and clad in UK-sourced larch. The indicative EPC at handover was rated at carbon neutral.

There has been a high number of visitors to the new facilities which opened in summer 2020 and Forestry England has found the improved site easy to run which has greatly improved its working environment.

"The support and advice from the G&T team has been invaluable to us throughout this project. They have been there to act as our back stop and guide us through the NEC3 contract process and have been easy to deal with, readily fitting into the wider project team."
