Principal Designer & CDM Consultancy

Principal Designers help to ensure that construction projects deliver good value and are safe to build, use and maintain by providing advice and facilitating in-depth consideration of the health and safety implications of the design. We also provide advice to clients, assisting them with their obligations under the CDM Regulations.

We have developed robust systems, accredited to ISO 9001, that dovetail effectively into the various design and procurement procedures without encumbering teams with bureaucracy or excessive paperwork. The service is delivered by experienced professionals dedicated exclusively to providing the Principal Designer and Client’s CDM Advisor roles.

Principal Designer services includes:

  • Collating historical information from clients, reviewing and circulating to teams
  • Convening CDM workshops to review designers’ hazard evaluation and application of the principles of prevention
  • Collating, issuing and tracking the projects’ Hazard Elimination and Management Schedule
  • Compiling Pre-Construction Information for inviting tenders
  • Ensuring final compilation of Health and Safety Files in accordance with CDM Regulations and ensuring delivery of the residual Health and Safety File to clients

CDM Advisor services includes:

  • Advising clients of their duties under CDM 2015
  • Reviewing historical information for forwarding to principal designers
  • Advising clients on the skills, knowledge and experience of designers, principal designers and principal contractors
  • Reviewing the principal contractor’s Construction Phase Plan, and advising the client when it is sufficiently developed to commence works on site.
  • Preparing and submitting F10 notifications to the HSE
