Ice Arena Wales

Ice Arena Wales

Ice Arena Wales is a new Olympic-standard ice arena in Cardiff's International Sports Village - home to Cardiff International Pool and Cardiff International White Water, both successful venues hosting national and international events. The IAW will be a dual pad facility with seating for 3,000 spectators and includes facilities for curling for the first time in South Wales.

The site was a former landfill site close to Cardiff Bay which required careful design and monitoring throughout the construction to avoid pollution entering the bay. The works included road alterations, a public realm area and car parking.

"Ice Arena Wales will be a world-class facility capable of holding Olympic and European standard events, but which will be available to all members of the public and local schools, in addition to the extensive of amateur and professional teams that play currently from the existing rink. To have a venue of this standard will make IAW one of the leading sporting and leisure destinations in the UK."
