Brodsworth Hall Volunteering Day
Employees from G&T’s Leeds office took part in a Volunteering Day at the unique English Heritage site of Brodsworth Hall, a restored Victorian home in South Yorkshire.
A team of 13 volunteers worked to help clear and prepare flower beds for 23,000 plants to be planted across the beautiful Victorian gardens of the house.
G&T was joined by representatives from Buro Happold, Curtins, DLA and Bowman Riley. The volunteers were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the house learning ߣߣƵapp its rich history and the fantastic work that is doing to the house to preserve the delicate interior.
“I thoroughly enjoyed joining G&T in getting our hands dirty and feeling the sun on our backs while doing some “proper work” and helping maintain the beautiful grounds of Brodsworth Hall. A tiring, yet satisfying day.” Iain Jones, DLA Architecture
Then the hard work began for the team who were tasked with removing tired plants from the borders to prepare for the new arrivals. Everyone threw themselves into the task and thoroughly enjoyed the day in the autumn sun.
Finishing with drinks to toast a job well done, the whole team gained an immense sense of appreciation for all of the work that goes into the upkeep of Brodsworth Hall and similar sites.
“I and the rest of the G&T team had a great day volunteering at Brodsworth Hall. It was an opportunity to hear the fascinating story behind the house, assist English Heritage with their winter garden preparations and also network with our guests and colleagues.”Tom Hope, G&T Project Surveyor
