Hayward Gallery Reopens After Two Year Restoration
Part of the iconic London Southbank Centre, the Hayward Gallery has opened its doors to the public following an intensive two year renovation project in time for the Hayward’s 50th birthday.
First opened in 1968, the gallery is best known for brutalist architecture style and its world class exhibitions programme of both adventurous and influential artists. The opening exhibition provides the first major UK retrospective of the acclaimed German photographer Andreas Gursky.
"G&T is proud to have worked on this landmark project and secure the renewal of the building for next 50 years."Jonathan Deans, G&T Partner
G&T provided Cost Management and Principal Designer services on the restoration project, which involved the installation of a new climate control system along with further essential building services and digital infrastructure. The development also replaced the terrazzo floors and sculpture terraces, redesigning the building’s 66 iconic pyramid roof lights to let natural light reach the upper floors for the first time.
