G&T hosts NLA Summer Academy 2019
As part of the NLA Learning Programme, G&T hosted the Architectural Design Academy. This annual five day course saw 15 young people aged 16 to 18 come together to be inspired ߣߣÊÓƵapp careers within the built environment.
All the students had expressed an interest in studying architecture, planning or urban design at university with the academy offering them the chance to take part in hands on practical activities such as digital design, architectural drawing and model making.
The students were tasked with delivering a creative brief surrounding this year’s theme, ‘Housing in London,’ which they had to present to industry professionals at the end of the week. Volunteers were on hand to encourage students to work like real architects, designers and planners, whilst coming up with original ideas for their building design.
Alongside their workshops, students took part in a speed mentoring session with women from the engineering industry, received a talk and a tour from the U+I PLC regeneration team and learnt how to create public art interventions in a model making workshop. G&T was proud to support the initiative by hosting two days at our London HQ.
With the industry’s current skills shortage it is more important than ever to engage and inspire a new generation of property professionals. G&T continues to do this through its support of NLA’s Learning Programme and our NextGen programme.
