As part of our ongoing ESG initiative, G&T has a dedicated team of Mental Health First Aid Champions (MHFAC) employees can reach out to when they need support with their mental health. Our MHFAC's are trained to support conversations surrounding mental health, whether its ߣߣÊÓƵapp an individual, a friend, a family member of even an colleague.

Sharing his experience as a MHFAC, Sam hopes to champion more open conversations surrounding mental health in the workplace.

Sam's Blog

"During mental health week, I along with 14 other members from G&T completed the firm's Mental Health First Aid training, bringing the total number across the business to 41. Through sessions led by an experienced professional, we learnt how to spot when someone might be struggling, explored the different types of workplace stressors and discussed how personal matters can also impact our stress levels."

"I would recommend becoming a Mental Health First Aid Champion to everyone and encourage anyone struggling to reach out today for support."

Mental Health First Aid Champion

"In the second half of the day we were taught how to implement a mental health first aid action plan for anyone in a crisis, whilst through role-play sessions were able to put our knowledge into practice. Alongside the practical skills, we heard the statistics of mental health related illnesses and suicide levels across the UK, reinforcing why initiatives such as these are so important.

It was great to come together with peers and colleagues, discussing how we can support mental health to be more readily addressed both in the workplace and across the sector."

Alongside our Mental Health First Aid Champions our Employee Assistance Programme provides advice on matters such as money & finances, career guidance, dealing with illness, bereavements, along with access to professional counsellors.

Whilst mental health first aiders are not professional therapists, they are equipped with tools and resources to offer support and direction for anyone who feels they are struggling.
