Kelvin Hall TV & Film Studios
Glasgow City Council has secured funding from the Scottish Government to develop a TV and film studio in the city's Listed Kelvin Hall building. The project will provide a 10,500 sq ft multi camera studio in Glasgow capable of bringing major high quality television productions to Scotland for the first time.
The building's central vault will provide space for performances and gatherings including gallery space, pop-up markets, stalls and temporary installations. The studio will be available to let for independent producers and is expected to host a range of audience-centred screenings that will re-establish Kelvin Hall's primary purpose as an entertainment venue.
In 2016 G&T delivered the first phase of Kelvin Hall's refurbishment into a multi-use civic facility. The western vault is now home to sporting facilities, a public café, museum collections, the Huntarian offices and teaching facilities for University of Glasgow as well as the National Library of Scotland's Scottish Screen archive facility.
The G&T-led team is also preparing a vision for the future phases and development of the building that will further establish Kelvin Hall as a centre for cultural excellence.
